Storm and Outage Details

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

• Severe weather and strong winds moved through the northern Indiana and southwest Michigan portions of Indiana Michigan Power’s (I&M) territory late Friday afternoon. The areas in and around Three Rivers, Mich., were especially hit.
• As of 7:30 p.m., approximately 5,200 customers in the Three Rivers, Mich area were without service. 
• A restoration team of 135 I&M personnel, tree trimmers and business partners will safely work through the night to clear electrical hazards from streets and near homes. Crews are assessing the extensive damage and where possible will restore power. Additional restoration workers are in route to assist.
• I&M is partnering with local emergency management officials and first responders through this restoration effort.
• We understand the inconvenience of experiencing a power outage. Please know, I&M will work safely until each customer who can receive electrical service has been restored.

SAFETY TIPS

• Downed power lines. Stay away from any downed wires and report them to I&M with a phone call to 1-800-311-4634 or to your local police department.
• Some traffic lights are out. If a stoplight isn’t working, treat it as a stop sign. Take it slow on the road.
• We urge the general public not to approach our crews. For your safety and ours, please do not approach I&M employees and contractors working to restore power.
• When using a generator, connect all appliances directly to the generator. Don’t connect the generator's electrical output to any home or building electrical circuits. Don’t use gas-powered generators in enclosed or partially enclosed spaces, like inside a garage or a home.
