Storm and Outage Details

Summary

A prolonged weather event that began on Tuesday brought repeated rounds of heavy rain, strong winds and severe thunderstorms across eastern Kentucky. More than 19,000 customers were without power at the peak, and additional storms caused new outages throughout the week as crews worked to restore service.

The subsequent storms after Tuesday’s initial event have caused additional outages with 900 customers currently without power.

Weather

The weekend forecast shows potential for additional heavy rain, strong winds and flash flooding. Saturated ground could increase the potential for trees and limbs to fall and cause new outages.

Additional storms could also create hazardous conditions that may affect crew access and restoration efforts.

Restoration

Crews are working to complete remaining repairs today and will continue to address new power outages caused by storms that may impact the area this weekend.
