Storm and Outage Details

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW 

We know that many customers want to know when their power will be restored.  As crews make progress on determining how much damage occurred and what repairs are required, they are now able to establish approximately how long it will take to restore power. 

• For our customers in the Muncie, Fort Wayne and Michigan regions, most will be restored by 11:00 p.m. tonight. 

• For customers in the South Bend area, which experienced the greatest amount of damage, most will be restored by 2:00 a.m. Wednesday. 

• All other customers will be restored by 6:00 p.m. Wednesday. 

• More than 1,400 workers are repairing damage and restoring power and crews will work throughout the night. 

• Approximately 8,700 customers remain without power due to the storms, down from a peak of almost 20,700 from earlier today. 

SITUATION  

This afternoon’s storms left broken poles and downed wires across our service area.  Our crews are clearing damaged areas and addressing safety hazards so they can safely restore power as quickly as possible. 

As a reminder, please stay away from all downed wires and do not attempt to clear damage yourself. Report damage to local police or to I&M immediately at 1-800-311-4634. 

WHAT YOU CAN DO 

• Connect with I&M: Customers should update their I&M account information. Make sure the email address and phone number on file are up to date. The fastest way to get information is through the I&M app and text or email alerts. 

• Beware of Standing Water:   Heavy rainfall has resulted in areas of standing water on some roadways.  Do not attempt to drive through these areas of standing water.  Turn around and choose another route.
