Thank you for your patience.
Update: 7/28/2026 8:06 AM ET
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
Our crews worked through the night and have restored more than 90% of impacted customers.
For those who are still without power due to the storms, we still expect to have customers in Muncie restored by noon and customers in the Marion area restored by 6:00 p.m.
Today crews are focused on replacing broken poles, a process that requires several hours of work to be done safely and correctly.
We understand how frustrating it is to be without power and appreciate everyone’s patience as we work to get every customer restored.
SITUATION
Our teams have restored more than 15,500 of the approximately 17,200 customers affected by the storm. As of 8:00 a.m., approximately 1,400 customers are without power, most in the Muncie and Marion areas.
Through the night, our crews worked to gain access by removing fallen trees and limbs and then replaced poles, broken crossarms, and a significant amount of downed power lines. Many of the remaining outages require crews to access backyards and other hard to reach areas to replace broken poles, a process that can take several hours.
Every outage matters to us and our teams will continue to work through the day until every customer’s lights are back on.
CAN YOU RECEIVE POWER?
Due to the widespread damage from this storm, in some cases damage may affect the equipment connected directly to your home or business. If that’s the case, a licensed electrician may need to make repairs before we can safely restore service. Checking for any visible damage and contacting an electrician, if needed, can help those repairs get completed sooner so we can restore your power.
If our crews see damage that prevents restoration, we will contact you directly and/or leave a door hanger with next steps. You can learn more about the process here.
WHAT YOU CAN DO
Stay Away from Downed Lines: All downed lines should be considered energized and deadly. The power line and anything it could touch, including fences, storm debris, and standing water, can carry electric current that could cause serious or fatal injuries. If you see a fallen wire, keep yourself and others (including pets) away and call local police or I&M immediately at 1-800-311-4634.
Take It Slow on the Road: Drivers should reduce speed and be on the lookout for utility personnel, emergency responders, and tree removal crews working in the area.
Check for Local Cooling Centers: Some communities set up cooling centers for people to escape the heat. Check with your local city or county.
